Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil 750 MW Rewa Ultra Mega Solar plant in Madhya Pradesh via video conferencing today.

In a statement released by Chief Minister of MP, Shivaraj Singh Chouhan added that Chouhan has met Union Minister of state for energy R K Singh at his residence in Delhi and urged him to attend the inauguration as well. The inauguration of the solar plant is scheduled at 11 a.m. via video conferencing.

Established with an investment of Rs 4,500 crore, the Rewa Ultra Solar Power Project will generate 750MW electricity and will comprise three solar generating units of 250MW each located on the 1,590-acre park.

The project has achieved a record low tariff – with the first-year tariff as low as Rs 2.97/unit with a tariff escalation of Rs 0.05/unit over 15 years and levelized rate of Rs 3.30/unit over the 25 years term.

The project is a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and MP Urja Vikas Nigam, with both entities having equal stakes. It has also received funds from the World Bank and the Clean Technology Fund through $18 million funding.

The power generated from this project will be supplied to the state and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
