Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has announced that it has installed the foremost solar electric vehicle (EV) charging station on Delhi-Chandigarh highway.
The first in a chain of charging stations on the complete 250 kilometer stretch was inducted by A R Sihag, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) in the attendance of BHEL Chairman Atul Sobti in Sonepat, Haryana. The project is concealed under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) & Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) scheme of DHI.
“The establishment of EV chargers at regular intervals over the entire stretch between Delhi and Chandigarh would allay range-anxiety among the EV users and bolster their confidence for inter-city travel. As part of the project, BHEL has also developed a Central Monitoring System (CMS) for EV Chargers with a user-friendly mobile application,” the company believed
BHEL’s range of work in the project includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply and installation of the EV charging stations along with the CMS. Each station will be fortified with a rooftop solar power plant to resource green energy and EV chargers, it supposed.
