IESA Roundtable on Corporate EV Adoption in India
Theme:
The rising concern like climate change, air pollution, environmental hazards demand global thought leaders to think about sustainable transportation. Apart from environmental benefits, some of the boasting features for EVs are immediate torque, silent ride, and premium performance. EVs also have lower fuel & maintenance cost. Consumers ultimately garner social pride and responsibility from creating a better, healthier planet.
India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has been active in India since 2012, creating awareness about advanced energy storage and emobility technologies and working very closely with the eco system. With MOVE (Moving Onwards with Vehicle Electrification) initiative, IESA has been actively engaged in the eMobility dialogue with trainings, webinars to create awareness and advancing stake holder consensus for topics around EV charging and swapping infrastructure as well as associated standards. IESA has actively engaged with 12+ states and union territories (UTs) that are leading the way in building production, infrastructure, and services to increase adoption of EVs in India. Government of India has announced demand incentives under FAME scheme, mainly for the public transportation sector.
IESA is focusing on promoting and accelerating sustainable mobility for urban & rural transportation in public as well as private sector. IESA has signed MOU with EESL for faster adoption of eMobility in India. IESA has introduced EV Adopter’s circle (IESA-EVAC) to help corporates in transition towards xEV fleet and setting up EV charging infrastructure for their employees, customers, goods carrier & goods delivery etc by knowledge sharing and working closely with industry stakeholders in the eco system. Corporates can take step by step approach to evaluate and comfortably pledge to migrate towards xEV fleet and /or arrange to provide EV charging infrastructure at their premise.
Here are some steps that corporate can plan & add in the roadmap
- Employee transportation: Adding EVs in the captive EV fleet, EV fleet provider service, Hiring EV cabs, EV scooters
- Goods carrier & goods last mile delivery: electric 3 wheelers, electric scooters adoption
- EV charging stations: Installing EV charging stations in the premise for employees, customers, captive EV fleet for leasing space for public charging
Corporates can plan to do this by at least 10% by 2022 as the first step and then 25% by 2025 and 50% by 2030. We think that these are reasonable targets and can be achievable. Moving to electric mobility can be in the roadmap for the Corporate sustainability team, as this will help in reducing the carbon footprint for the organization. At the same time, there could be some low hanging fruits in the existing logistics where electric mobility can make economic senses right now. In this roundtable we will discuss and facilitate the EV transition for corporates and industry though IESA members community.
