Letter to MoF to reduce GST on various equipment used in Energy Storage System under 5% margin
On 7th June '22, IESA wrote a letter to MoF highlighting the importance of reducing and bringing the GST of energy storage and its equipment under 5% Margin. According to the current GST regime, the tax rates on lithium-ion batteries and EV supply equipment are 18% and 5%, respectively. GST for advanced batteries in EVs still on higher side ranging between 18% to 28%. Other than lithium ion, all other batteries chemistries are attracting 28% GST.
