IESA submitted Budget expectations to MoF dated- 28.1.21. Few expectations from Budget 2021 mentioned in the enclosed letter are listed below

GST reduction for batteries & charging / swapping: Suggested rate of 5%
Duties for cells and supply chain components including raw and processed materials as well as manufacturing equipment: reduced rate to 5% minimum from higher duties
Tax benefits (exemption of Charges & Duties) relaxation to Storage Projects
Extension of Fame II incentivization
Incentivise MSME sector and Start Up Eco system of Energy Storage and E-mobility
Revenue Shortfall Scheme for Manufacturing Sector
Government funds for domestic R&D Initiatives

IESA letter to BIS to issue a clarification on the applicability of IS 16046 for Stationary Battery Storage.

IESA submitted a lette to Bureau of Indian Standards to issues a clarification on the applicability of IS 16046 for Stationary Storage Battery. As per the Customs clearance process, the customs officials in India examine the BIS certification, i.e., IS 16046 part 1 & Part 2 on the import of batteries. As per BIS circular Ref: CMD-III/16: IS 16046, 11 March 2019, BIS revised the IS 16046 certification, this standard is not applicable to for stationary battery storage system. As this information not documented with custom department, it is requested to issue clarification on it's applicability for stationary battery storage.

IESA comments/suggestion on Approach Paper on Terms and Conditions of Tariff Regulations for Tariff Period 01.04.2024 to 31.03.2029

IESA submitted Comments/Suggestion on CERC Approach Paper on Terms and Conditions of Tariff Regulations for Tariff Period 01.04.2024 to 31.03.2029. The key recommendations were to revise the tariff policy 2016 to include emerging technologies like battery energy storage, include tariff structure required for BESS, and deriving a mechanism for computation and recovery of capital expenditure in terms of tariff once ESS picked up pace.

IESA submitted a note with reference to email received from Ministry of Mines inviting comments/inputs on the ban on graphite imposed by PRC. IESA submitted note including supply challenges for battery application, potential impact on Indian industry and other potential alternatives.
