Mr. R CHELLAPPAN, the Founder and Managing Director of Numeric Power Systems Ltd (Now known as SWELECT ENERGY SYSTEMS LTD), is a distinguished Engineer in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and a rank holder from Madras University. R. Chellappan established NUMERIC (SWELECT) in the year 1984 for manufacturing Electronic systems based on Digital Electronics and this marked the advent of NUMERIC UPS. Numeric bloomed into a Public Limited Company in 1994 and the stocks are listed in Mumbai, and Chennai Stock Exchanges. Mr. Chellappan has been at the core of the R&D & Marketing operations of the Numeric Group since its inception, and the product conception, development. He has worked as a Plant Engineer for over 7 years in Sri Ramakrishna Steels Limited, Coimbatore and served as a Senior Executive in Electrical Maintenance at Ashok Leyland Limited, Chennai, for over 5 years. Apart from successfully heading NUMERIC (SWELECT) group, R.Chellappan, is also an active senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers USA and the Chairman of the PELS Society of IEEE Madras Chapter for the last 19 years. He has also been elected as the Chairman of the Association of UPS Manufacturers in April 2005. He has also been associated with the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Chennai, for Power Quality Management programs.
