Roundtable on Raw materials & Chemical Processing for Giga Factories (ACC & Niche ACC) in India
Recently, the Indian government has approved the Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Manufacturing Production Linked Incentive Program. The nodal ministry, thereafter, proposed incentives for 50 GigaWatt-Hour (GWh) of ACC at giga-factories capacities and 5 GWh of “Niche” ACC for other advanced battery technologies at smaller capacities with an outlay of INR 18,100 Crore (approx. $2.5 billion USD). This manufacturing opportunity required processed raw materials for the battery manufacturing, including Li, Mn, Ni, Co, Cu, Al, C, Fe, P, Zn etc. IESA is closely working with DHI and NITI Aayog and a few states to implement this PLI scheme. IESA is also assisting 15+ potential applicants for the PLI scheme and expects the application will go beyond 100+ GWh for his program. In this regard, IESA sees a huge opportunity for Indian and global companies to tie up with potential manufactures for the raw materials supply. On 4th June 2021, IESA is organizing a close room virtual roundtable among key raw materials players, government officials, and potential manufacturers to discuss the requirement. IESA will also do series of activities for PLI for ACC and Niche ACC Battery Storage scheme in the next 3-6 months for its members to grab this unique opportunity. For the 4th June virtual roundtable, we have invited DHI, Ministry of Mines, NITI Aayog, Invest India, 30+ potential ACC battery manufacturers, and Indian and global raw materials suppliers.
