Rustam Sengupta is a solar energy expert with over 10 years of on-ground experience in marketing, technology and finance of both off-grid as well as on-grid rooftop systems. Founder and CEO of Boond, one of India’s leading solar energy access enterprises that originates and engineers projects in solar rooftops, solar micro grids, solar home systems etc. Till date, Boond has installed over 2 MWs of solar projects winning numerous awards. He is an expert on design and data analysis for products and services for the BoP and a consultant to numerous universities and institutions on market entry and emerging market economics. Consultant for impact investment advisory and deal structuring to start-ups, Rustom is part of the Indian delegation accompanying the Indian Prime Minister to Silicon Valley as one of the leading social entrepreneurs of the country (Sept, 2015). Selected as ‘INSEADer of the Month – July 2015’ by INSEAD Business School for powerful contribution to the field of Impact and Entrepreneurship by an MBA alumni, he has also been awarded ‘Echoing Green Fellowship’ for work in Climate Change in 2014. Rustom Sengupta is an INSEAD MBA graduate with MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine having experience in banking and consulting for companies like Standard Chartered (in Singapore), Syngenta (in Switzerland) and Deloitte Consulting (in the US).
