KPIT Technologies and Trentar Energy Solutions have partnered to commercialise sodium-ion battery technology. KPIT, a global mobility solutions provider, will transfer its technology to Trentar, which will invest in manufacturing and pay KPIT upfront and royalty fees.
Both KPIT and Trentar are now part of a select group of companies globally that are focused on developing and advancing sodium-ion battery technology.
This collaboration aims to make electric mobility more affordable and sustainable by leveraging earth-abundant materials for sodium-ion batteries. These batteries offer advantages like longer lifespan, faster charging, and diverse applications across various sectors.
The agreement involves Trentar investing in a 3GWh sodium-ion battery manufacturing capacity. KPIT will receive upfront technology transfer fees and royalties over eight years.
