GLASGOW-based Smarter Grid Solutions has entered into a partnership with Enzen Global Solutions (EGS) in India to bring innovative distributed energy resource (DER) management solutions to new markets looking to address the challenges associated with renewable integration.

The partnership was formally announced at the India-UK energy for growth dialogue in Delhi, India by Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Smarter Grid Solutions (SGS) was spun out from the University of Strathclyde to commercialise real-time control of electricity resources which require connection to grids that are considered full.

Its DER system can incorporate numerous renewable energy sources, ensuring power is drawn from the most efficient source at any given time.

To date the company has worked with four of six network operators in the UK and has more than 250 megawatts (MW) of renewable generation under live control around the UK.
